Modern Slavery Statement

Introduction

The Modern Slavery Act 2015 (the “Act”) is a UK law that came into force in 2015. The Act requires commercial organisations who supply goods or services to publish a slavery and human trafficking statement for each financial year. As a major provider of insurance services, the Lucida Group (referred to as Group) of companies is fully supportive of the Act and, as required by the Act, this statement sets out the steps taken during the current financial year to combat slavery and human trafficking in our business and supply chains.

Our Approach

The Group has zero tolerance to any form of slavery and human trafficking and are committed to enforcing effective systems and controls to ensure neither is taking place in any part of our business or in any of our supply chains.

Our business

The Lucida Group brings together leading businesses in their respective fields within the insurance industry. For all or part of 2021, the Group included the following businesses: Right Choice Insurance Brokers, Bennetts Motorcycle Services Limited and Moorhouse Group Limited.  As a group, we provide arrange of insurance products and services to businesses and consumers, and the legal entities that carry out insurance-related activity are authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority.  As a company we have over 600 staff in our UK offices. More information about our business can be found on “Our Businesses” section of the Lucida Group Website.

Our supply chains

Our supply chains include business partners in the provision of insurance services such as insurance companies and claims service providers; and also providers of other services necessary to run our business effectively, such as IT, printing provision and facilities.

Recruitment practices

We recognise the right of each employee to freedom of association, including the right to join trade unions. We ensure that we comply with employment legislation as regards child employment and we do not employ people who do not have the right to work in the UK.

Due diligence and contracting

The Contract Governance Process Policy mandates the requirement for checking compliance with all applicable laws. This is done by adhering to the steps defined in the Contract Governance Process to make sure there is appropriate oversight and review of contracts before they are entered into.

Training

To ensure a high level of understanding of the risks of modern slavery and human trafficking in our supply chains and our business, staff involved in purchasing and entering into contractual arrangements on behalf of the Group have been made aware of the provisions, requirements and importance of the Act on an annual basis.

Further steps

As part of our annual review a supplier health check is completed which will include compliance with the Act.

This statement is made pursuant to section 54(1) of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and constitutes our slavery and human trafficking statement for the current financial year ending.

The board of directors of Lucida Group Limited approved this statement on 3rd September 2021.
